Lakes Urgent Care remains open and creates a “clean office” to protect and serve patients during the COVID-19 Coronavirus outbreak

Lakes Urgent Care, with locations in West Bloomfield and Livonia, will remain open and has instituted new policies effective immediately to establish a “clean office” so that we can continue to provide medical services and care to patients who do not have symptoms related to the COVID-19 Coronavirus.

Prior to entering the office, all patients are now pre-screened and not allowed to enter if they have a fever, cough, sore throat, congestion, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, or any international travel history or confirmed or suspected COVID-19 exposure. Patients who exhibit these symptoms will be given instructions and guidelines at the door. Lakes Urgent Care does not have access to the COVID-19 Coronavirus test at this time.

Patients who do not exhibit these symptoms will be allowed to enter for treatment for wound care, basic burn care, eye complaints, abdominal pain (without vomiting or diarrhea), back pain, dermatologic issues, x-ray and initial fracture care, asthma and any other concerns not related to upper respiratory infections or risk of COVID-19 Coronavirus.

“Instituting these measures allows us to provide the community with essential medical care that is not related to the COVID-19 Coronavirus,” said Lakes Urgent Care medical director Dr. Sanford Vieder. “These are challenging times for everyone, and our goal is to keep Lakes Urgent Care open and provide a safe and “clean” office for all the communities we serve.”

“We recognize that many primary care offices and opportunities for routine health care are now very limited, said Vieder.”  “Many patients still need health care and Lakes Urgent Care can be a resource to the communities we serve and help reduce these types of visits to local emergency departments which are currently overwhelmed with providing care for COVID-19 Coronavirus affected, trauma and critically ill patients.”
